Easiest Way to Highlight Author’s Comments

I have a new layout and I’m liking it very much. And I’m currently exploring on how to modify my theme and the features.

One of them is highlighting the comments that I’ve made in my posts.

Now, when I blog-walk, sometimes I’d like to search back for the author’s reply to my comment. Strangely, I also browse through other people’s comments especially the author’s reply to them. So, it would be nice if the author’s comments can be distinguished easily.

Well, I want that feature for the okay arms dot com. Hehee.

An example below shows some of the comments made in my blog including mine. It’s actually easy to see which comments are mine based on my name and also my avatar. But what can be done to make it more ermmmm appealing?

(ONLY FOR WORDPRESS USERS. I’M NOT SURE ABOUT OTHERS. LOL.)

I’ve searched the internet and whew there are a lot of articles on how to do this but most of them are outdated or complex. Even the plugins mentioned were outdated.

But thankfully I found one method which works! And it’s the easiest too (without using a plugin).

Just go to your style.css in your theme editor.

And add one space and post this:

.bypostauthor { background-color:#E6E6FA !important; }

Like below.

And voilà, comments made by me are highlighted.

You can choose the background colours that you want for your comments at w3schools.com.

Just replace the:

#E6E6FA

… with a colour that you like.

Hope it works for you. Here’s the original tutorial, btw.

    That’s nice…and you’ll have double the number of comments too! I just quick-edit a comment to reply right below it and highlight what I’ve said, that’s all.
